THE HORIZON AFTER PARTY
Hectoliter, Bruxelles
November 14th – December 12th 2015
"The Horizon After Party" is a selection of recent work by a Tampere based artist Jan Anderzén. He has performed his joyful noise in Belgium numerous times before but "The Horizon After Party" is his first solo exhibition in the region.
He did not bring a suitcase full of low budget electronic instruments to Hectoliter but some quilted textiles and a series of small paintings. The images can be busier than a puppy in a room full of rubber balls but there's always an unrelenting endeavor towards harmony. They are splashes on a grid mirroring the nature of the life around us.
Elissa Määttänen, a long time collaborator and a dear friend, has this to say: "Janderzén's work has the beat of a frantic tide you want to be carried away by. It will overwhelm you, mesmerize you, take you down its labyrinthine ways and rearrange your sense of direction. Time is cyclical, layered, parallel. Everything melts into one and stands out. Faces fuzzy and clear encountered in heat.
Bear Bones, Lay Low will perform at the opening reception on Saturday the 14th. The party starts at 7pm.
On Sunday the 15th at 4:30pm there will be a Collective Composer Portrait Workshop for kids and people like kids.
